Ingredients of Glazed Pearl Onions and Grapes

  • 20 pearl onions
  • 1/4 cup sherry vinegar
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup seedless red grapes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. In a large saucepan, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pearl onions and cook for 3 minutes. Drain and run cold water over the onions to stop the cooking process.
  3. Trim the root ends of the onions and peel off the outer skin.
  4. In a cast iron or other oven-proof skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onions, sherry vinegar, white wine, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, or until the liquid has reduced by half.
  5. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until the onions are tender and the liquid has thickened.
  6. Add the grapes to the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the grapes are heated through.
  7. Serve immediately.

Tips

  • For a sweeter dish, use balsamic vinegar instead of sherry vinegar.
  • For a spicier dish, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.
  • Serve the glazed pearl onions and grapes as a side dish to pork, chicken, or fish.
  • Enjoy!
