Apple grape galette is a rustic fruit tart made with a flaky pastry crust and filled with a mixture of thinly sliced apples and grapes. It is typically seasoned with cinnamon and other spices, and is often served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients of Apple Grape Galette
For the crust
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 pound cold, unsalted butter, diced (1 stick)
- 2 tablespoons ice water
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
For the filling
- 2 apples, peeled and sliced (I use Fuji)
- 12-15 grapes, halved lengthwise
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- Turbinado sugar for sprinkling (optional)
Instructions
- To make the crust, combine the flour, sugar, and salt in a food processor. Add the butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the ice water and pulse until the dough just comes together. Form the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet.
- In a bowl, combine the apples, grapes, flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and allspice. Mound the filling in the center of the dough, leaving a 2-inch border. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, pleating as needed.
- Brush the crust with the beaten egg and sprinkle with turbinado sugar, if desired.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Let cool for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Tips
- For a sweeter galette, add more sugar to the filling.
- For a more tart galette, use tart apples, such as Granny Smith.
- Add other fruits to the filling, such as pears, peaches, or berries.
- Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Enjoy!
